Phil Unruh became the 31st different driver to double-up in two classes at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
NORWALK, OH β The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals delivered another action-packed weekend for the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competitors at Summit Motorsports Park, with Wally trophies handed out across the sportsman categories Sunday.
One of the biggest stories of the weekend belonged to Phil Unruh, who pulled off an impressive double-up. Unruh drove his dragster to the Super Comp victory before climbing into his Camaro and adding the Super Gas title later in the day, leaving Norwalk with two Wally trophies. He is the 31st different driver to double up and it is 47th time it has happened.

Joining him in the winnerβs circle was Pete D’Agnolo (Comp), Brenda Grubbs (SS), Matt Antrobius (STK), Victor Marqua (SST), Sadie Glenn (TD), and Alex Miller (TS).

Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
Competition Eliminator

Pete D’Agnolo picked up his seventh NHRA National event Wally after defeating Al Ackerman in the final round. Ackerman turned it -.105 at the hit, handing the easy win over to D’Agnolo. He was .021 on the tree and ran an 8.485 at 142 mph for the trophy and coveted ice cream scoop.
Bruno Massel was the lone semi-finalist.
Super Stock

Brenda Grubbs defeated Ron Richards in the final round to take home her fifth NHRA National event Wally. Richards turned it -.012 at the hit, handing the easy win over to Grubbs. She was .018 on the tree and ran a 9.385 at 140 mph for the trophy.
Troy Galbraith and Tyler Caheely were the semi-finalists.
Stock Eliminator

Matt Antrobius took home his first ever NHRA National event Wally in Stock Eliminator after defeating Tim Fletcher in the final round. Antrobius had the starting line advantage, .020 to .036, and never trailed back for the win. He ran a 11.288 at 113 mph on his 11.30 dial-in to clinch the double-breakout win.
Shane Oakes and Casey Fauss-Johnson were the semi-finalists.
Super Comp

Phil Unruh added his 10th NHRA National event Wally to his weekend after defeating Howie Smith in the final round. Smith had the starting line advantage, .016 to .026, but took too much stripe to breakout more than Unruh. Unruh ran an 8.888 at 183 mph to head to the winner’s circle.
Vince Musolino and Bob Prose were the semi-finalists.

Super Gas

Phil Unruh became the 31st different driver to capture the double-up win, defeating Raymond Miller in the final round to do so. Unruh had the starting line advantage, .011 to .017, and ran a 9.936 at 161 mph for the victory.
Scott Sattler and Jerry Heffelfinger were the semi-finalists.
Super Street

Victor Marqua picked up his first ever NHRA National event Wally after defeating Phil Smida in the final round. Smida had the starting line advantage, .029 to .040, but Marqua was able to run dead-on the 10.90 index with a 7. Smida ran a 10.957 in a losing effort.
Joseph Urbino and Niki Thomas were the semi-finalists.
Top Dragster

Sadie Glenn took home her first ever NHRA National event Wally after defeating Kenny Carson in the final round. Carson turned it -.005 at the hit to hand the easy ride to the winner’s circle over to Glenn. She was .020 on the tree and coasted to victory.
Nick Isenhower and Chuck Krepela were the semi-finalists.
Top Sportsman

Alex Miller defeated Glenn Butcher in the final round to take home his first NHRA National event Wally. Butcher was not able to make the call for the final round after he expired a motor in the semi-finals. Miller ran a 7.957 at 141 mph for the trophy.
Rick McDonough and Dave Coapstick were the semi-finalists.
